Famous Cousins

Familysearch.org has a fun new tool that shows your relationship to famous relatives. The people below are my distant cousins. The program also shows how we are related. The author Jane Austen, for example, is a 6th cousin, 7 times removed. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson are distant cousins. Some of our cousins came on the Mayflower.

Your list of famous people cousins will be different than mine, of course. If you would like to do this yourself you need an account on familysearch.org. This is free and run by the Church of the Latter Day Saints. Enter yourself and your parents and grandparents and you will probably have a complete genealogy going way back in time. And then you can see all the famous folks in your family tree under the activities tab: familysearch.org/discovery/famousrelatives

Such a DEAL!

Of course if your recent ancestors came to the USA recently, your famous cousins will be from the old country. Still interesting.
