The erratic behavior of Vladimir Putin threatening a nuclear conflict is very bad. António Guterres, secretary-general of the United Nations, acknowledged that “the prospect of nuclear war is now back within the realm of possibility.”
Both the US and Russia have ballistic missile (ICBM) in sparsely populated areas. In the US they are located in Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, Montana, and North Dakota. These are the targets - a “nuclear sponge” to draw fire away from urban areas.
