Prince of Peace Volunteers (POPV)

I served as a volunteer in the inner city of Nofolk for one year in 1966-67 just after high school graduation and before I joined the Marines. I saw more combat there than I did in Vietnam.

POPV Prince of Peace Volunteers, also known as the Prince of Peace Corps, was a creation of the Lutheran Church. It provided a program similar to Vista or the Peace Corps where volunteers, usually young, would spend one or two years in an American inner city or overseas mission. We did our little part in making the world a better place.
